Sage Hills named main sponsor for Olympic hockey exhibition game

January 19, 2010

The sold-out game - scheduled here Feb. 7 - is said to be a natural fit for the 2,083 acre housing development, sports and health centred university and private sports academy planned south of Courtenay.

"Sage Hills is thrilled to support the Sweden vs China Women’s Olympic Hockey Exhibition game, " said Dave Russell, President of Sage Hills, "The calibre of athletics these teams will showcase to the Comox Valley reflects the objectives of Sage Hills in providing youth around the world the opportunity to train here to become elite athletes in their chosen area of sport."

For $5,000, Sage Hills will be highly visible during the game. It gets a number of advertisements at the game, its program, gets additional display space and has their name on the website and all marketing.

The company also gets eight VIP access tickets to the game and practices, and has a number of perks like a special photo op and signed jerseys.

With tickets to the Game sold out within mere hours, sponsorship opportunities are one of two remaining ways to experience the teams.

The other is through the Team Sweden Open Practice event on Saturday Feb. 6, 5:30 pm, Comox Valley Sports Centre.

Tickets are $5 at the Sid Williams Theatre.

Ticket holders at the Sweden open practice will get a chance to win a set of two tickets to the Vancouver 2010 Canada vs. Slovakia Women’s Hockey Game on Saturday Feb. 13.

A contest will be run through the 97.3 The Eagle radio station for the tickets. The closer the game gets to being sold out, more tickets will offered up for the Canada game a week later.

"It’s a great way to add excitement to the open practice, and a fun way to expand the Olympic experience for someone in the Comox Valley," said John Watson, executive director of Comox Valley Economic Development.

Businesses interested in sponsoring the game should contact Geoff Crawford, Comox Valley Economic Development, 250-334-2427 x 225 or geoff@investcomoxvalley.com
